Too much Spam!!

I’m getting sick of it! Every day, more spam comments, all in the same entry, and all with a John792 or other number. I delete, I mark as spam… 1 minute later the next ones. Next step will be to delete that entry… and maybe delete my account here?

I haven’t seen ANY improvments over the past days/weeks…. have you?

Sorry people, I must be having hormone problems or something (I’m way past menopause… lol). But I need to rant…

So now I’m the bad guy….

First of all, I changed the layout (or “theme” as it’s called here) since the other one kept repeating the entries. It’ll be nice if this one works better.

So I am now the bad guy…. the one whining and complaining the most about the new journalspace. Eh, pardon me, but I’m at least still here while others have deleted.

It was said that I HATE this new journalspace. Let it be known, I have NEVER said I HATE it…. I just don’t like the format. I already disliked it while experimenting with Wordpress so it wasn’t the newness I didn’t like. I find Blogspot much easier, not only for me, but for all my less computer knowledgable friends.

I was getting used to things here, then lots of spam entries and comments started appearing. The company running this are no beginners… they are a computer website business. As someone said, they should have tested before putting it up. So, when they bought the name journalspace, they seemed to have no practice or experience with this type of site. You try programs out first, then work out any new bugs as they appear.

My forum has been up and running for over 5 years. No, it didn’t show much action except when JS went down. But then it’s just a “Fun Forum”, never intended for serious, continuous use. But it worked. We ended up also having problem with fakes and spammers and tried no security methods which didn’t work. In the background, Wheelie tried a new, up-dated version…

But he didn’t put it online until he was sure it worked properly and all data was transfered!

I was happy to help. That’s me… a helper. I don’t have to, I do have enough things on my plate in “real life”, but I enjoyed doing the forum and being there for everyone.

But now I’m the bad guy…. so be it.

Probably giving up here…

Yes, I’m frustrated with this place. I know, give them time. Well, I don’t HAVE the time! I spend to much time trying to navigate here, only for new glitches to appear.

My prestent layout looks fine in the template demo, but here the entry part is too narrow… and we still can’t change that and probably never will without paying, like at Wordpress.

My entries are single in the entry box, then when the comments open up, the entries show up DOUBLE! WTF!

I can’t see when my favorite JS’ers have updated… I have to visit their blogs and check… all how many? geeeez And the blogroll has to be done manually, one by one… I’ve got lest then half up there now.

I’ll keep this up here, but I’ll probably do most of my posting at blogspot… come visit me there.

I think I’m really suffering blogger overkill

New Site, New Tricks

yep, slowly but surely I’m learning my way around this place.

No, I will NOT start a “New JS for Dummies” journal! No!

But some people are not finding their way around here, or already complaining about features not found… (ahem… me, too). I think we were all in too much of a hurry to have everything perfect.

1) adding photos: hit the html tab at the top of your entry block and add photos the same as in JS without the visual editor, i.e.   first <img src=”photo url”>  it’s the same method I use when adding my smilies.

2) private entries: I discovered below the entry box some “advanced” links. One of them says “password protect this post”… well, guess what that does?

There will be more help to come… let’s give it a chance.

New Templates available

but so far none I’m crazy about. I tried one of them, but went back to the one I had. So far we don’t seem to be able to move some widgets around, only add and delete… but not the ones THEY put in. But, like everything else, time will tell…. they are still working on things.

So I’ll continue to practice PATIENCE! LOL

Some people have already given up and deleted already. That’s a pity… we should at least give these guys a chance. I’m keeping my blogger journal, too, but I notice that people aren’t visiting like they used to. Boo hoo!

Well, back to checking out this place…..

Oh, the impatience of some of you LOL

Though in some ways, I’m the worst offender.

This site has only been up a few hours, already has around 70 new (JS) members. There is still a lot to be tweaked and glitches to be fixed. No, I am NOT one of the admins… phew, missed that train!

So far the new owners are trying to get things up and running and are even asking for feature suggestions. I may NEVER be the same as before…. the basic software is Wordpress with all it’s pros and cons. What features can and will be added or removed is to be seen.

But, all of us have had quite some practice with new sites lately…. so, we’re just adding one more to our collection!
